Fortunately I went to sleep early last night and missed a helping of ritual humiliation ⚽️💙 – I shall say no more on the subject ….
Good news: Jezza’s boxers are finally dry!
We were raring to go this morning and made it poolside for just after 07:00. Jezza was reunited with his budgie smugglers 🤪🥰. I fear my nose clips could well be the third casualty – they just don’t stay on like they used to, so I avoided tumble turns today, for fear that they would plunge to the depths of the pool. In spite of this, I happily managed 50 lengths – this hotel’s pool is 18m – half as much again as the last pool we swam in, so I was feeling quite proud of myself. Mr 25m doggy paddle exceeded expectations with 16 lengths – a PB for him 😂😂😂.
Having exercised to the max, Jezza rewarded himself with an even bigger full Czechian helping of greasiness than he had yesterday and I had TWO bowls of fruit and yoghurt🤪 🐖 . I slipped a couple of apples into my bag for lunch 🤫🤫🤫.
Bad news: Hilda’s Fitbit is f**ked!
We started to look at replacements for my Fitbit – with our anniversary coming soon, I had in mind for a new Michael Kors bag from Jezza, but think perhaps that will have to wait for my birthday – I can’t see Jezza running to a Fitbit and handbag somehow… If we ordered a new Fitbit today, it would be delivered on Saturday when we’re back home. Maybe Jezza will have forgotten about it by May and my handbag will be safe after all … 🤔😜. If we crossed The Charles Bridge, I thought maybe I could make a wish on the wishing spot ….
Note from Jezza: No chance. I’ve got the memory of an elephant! 😀
By 10:00, Jezza had consulted his mate, ChatGPT and between them, they arranged the route for the last of our sightseeing in Prague. He said fortunately ChatGPT was in bloke-mode today as it spoke sense, rather than being controlled by a woman who he often argues with because she talks rubbish …. Not that he’s a misogynist…..
Not having a walking tour booked today 😅, we were able to take it easy – we made our way to Prague Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which contains various museums, a cathedral, a church, an old royal palace and a cobbled street with painted old houses. A ticket to visit the above was 40€ for us. Let’s face it, once you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. 40€ buys us 16 bottles of decent wine at home – no contest!! 😂😂
At noon each day, there is a ceremonial changing of the guard at Hradčany Square. We arrived 15 minutes early so as to get the best view through an iron gate. When the soldiers came into the square that the ceremony was performed in, Jezza said “it’s like something out of Dad’s Army” 😂😂😂. It all took about 15 minutes and I thought the closing music sounded like the theme music to Thunderbirds!! 😂😂
We then found a bench to rest and have the fruit procured from breakfast. The weather had been good to us, but there was quite a chill in the air out of the sun. Our bench looked out at Schwarzenberský Palác – the facade was something to behold and looked 3D from a distance – Jezza couldn’t work out how it was done – it was a what came first, the chicken or the egg?… 🤔🤔
By this time we were feeling sightseeinged (is that even a word?) out and made our way back to The Charles Bridge – I needed to make a wish at the point where our tour guide yesterday took us. Hopefully my wish will be granted 😜🤞🏻🤞🏻.
We carried on via the John Lennon Wall as we didn’t really get to see it yesterday because of the crowds – it was much quieter today. We were amazed to see people writing their names on the wall!! Tilly visited the wall 7 years ago on a football trip, so we did look to see whether there was a Chelsea sticker there 😂😂😂.
We carried on towards our bus stop – en route we looked for the obligatory fridge magnet (we always get a fridge magnet wherever we go) – unfortunately, there were none of the wall, so we picked a run of the mill Prague one.
We still hadn’t seen a suitable convenience store for a new razor for Jezza – I was worried that because he was starting to look like a hobo, he wouldn’t pass through security at Prague airport. As luck would have it, we got off the bus before our final train home and saw a store – mission accomplished- Jezza would be able to shave in the morning!! 👏👏
We got home and went for a sauna – a second day of having it all to ourselves – bliss!! The sauna was too hot really at 95 degrees, but we destressed and felt refreshed after half an hour relaxing in the “quiet area”.
By this time it was wine o’clock and we watched Bradley (just like being at home) and ordered my new Fitbit 🥳🥳🥳. It’ll arrive Saturday once we’re home 🤗🤗.
We were going to go into Prague for fish and chips, but frankly, we’re knackered 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. So we went downstairs to the restaurant for dinner. Jezza ordered a beer – if I had served that up when I was a barmaid, there would have been riots in the pub! Just look at the head on it 😳😳. Pic below ….
Jezza ordered Ossobucco Milanese (although we’re in Prague 😂😂) and I ordered pasta in a cream sauce. For dessert, Jezza ordered a salted caramel cheesecake, pecan nuts, caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. He said it was his favourite dessert.
We put the football on and tried to forget about our own football woes. Nothing we can do about it – once a Blue…. 💙
So we’d enjoyed our last evening of our Northern European trip- wending our way back home (via Brussels) tomorrow mid morning, but up early for a swim 🏊.
